Kadabu Rice Dumplings


Steamed Kadabu Rice Dumplings filled with Fried Gram powder and shaped in Kadabu Mould 
This is offered to Lord Ganesh as Neivedya so
enjoy this Ganesha festival with this sweet

This is usually served with Kayi Rasa  Coconut milk (KayiRasa)Sweetened with Jaggery

You can make these Rice Dumplings with some other fillings also such as Bele obbatu filling(Lentils & Jaggery filling)
For Kadabu (Yields about 15) 
Rice Flour: 2cups
Water: 2+1/2 cups

For Fried Gram filling(Yields about 20)
Fried Gram:1 cup
Copra: 1 cup
Jaggery: 1cup


Procedure for Kadabu

For Fried gram(Pappu) filling
Grate copra & lightly roast & toss it
lightly roast fried gram also
Mix both add jaggery grated
Then in a blender, run to form a dry powder
Mix well, Stuffing is ready

For outer Rice covering 
Boil water in a Deep dish or Pot style dish
Reduce the flame once the water boil
Add Rice flour & stir slowly till it forms lumps
If it's very hard sprinkle little more water & Mix

Once it's coming together remove from heat 
Remove the Rice Mudde on a plate
After a minute shape it to big ball & Keep it in hot box

Apply ghee to the Kadabu Mould
Take a portion of Rice Mudde (it should be warm) in your hand and flatten it then place in the mould
Add the filling about 1-2sps then close the mould and press so that it seals


Keep a Steamer ready with water below (or can steam in Idli cooker)
Place the prepared Kadabu in the steamer one by one slowly (it should not break open)
Steam it for 5-8min

Cool down & serve with Sweetened Coconut milk (KayiRasa)

Steamed Kadabu Rice Dumplings is ready enjoy the festival with this sweet
