Dahi Vada / Tayir Vadai


Summer Special Dahi Vada/ Tayir Vadai is a soft Vada dipped in curd & served with kara boondi mixture

This south Indian special is a great evening chaat which has a cooling effect & is enjoyed in summers


Ingredients for Medu Vada:(Yields 10)

Uraddal(BLACK LENTIL): 2cups

Greenchilies-2

Coconut pieces- 10

Crushed pepper- 1sp

Grated ginger- ½ sp

Oil For Deep frying

Salt to taste

For dipping:
Curd(Yogurt): 3 cups
Sugar: 4-5 sps
Garnishing Khara boondi mixture


Method:

  • Soak urad dal overnight or 4hrs
  • In a blender Grind Soaked Uraddal with very little water make smooth paste
  • Remove in mixing bowl add green chilies, coconut pieces, crushed pepper, grated ginger,salt.
  • Take a deep dish & heat Oil for dee frying
  • While making vada wet ur hand & take one portion on your palm make a hole & slowly leave in hot oil & fry both sides till golden brown
  • If you find it difficult to give shape keep the Mix in fridge for 1/2 hr then shape the Vada & deep fry
  • Remove on an absorbent, then Take a bowl with water & dip the Vadas in water for Half an hr
  • Take curd & whip it, then add sugar & mix well
  • Squeeze out vada from water & add to curd mix & leave for half an hr to soak
  • Serve each portion with curd & sprinkle khara boondi mixture on top
  • Cool & refreshing evening snacks Dahi Vada/ Tayir Vadai is ready to serve
