Sabudana Vada




Auspicious Month of shravan began, Happy to reach milestone of 125 posts....

Mondays in this month many follow fast, Thus Nutritious Snacks like Sabudana Vada is prepared for Fasting

Sabudana vada also called 'sago vada', is a traditional deep fried snack from MaharashtraIndia. It is often served with spicy greenchutney and along with hot chai and is best eaten fresh. In other parts of the country, Sabudana vada are the best option to have when fasting. Therefore, this filling and nutritious snack is served usually during religious festivals and during fast/vrat/upvaas especially in Navratri vrats. Like all vadas, these are best eaten fresh. Sabudana vadas are crunchy and simply melt in the mouth leaving the stomach full and the tongue craving for more.

Ingredients
Sabudana        2 cups
Potato             2
Red chili pow   2 tsps
Cumin Powder  1 tsp
Gram flour       1/2 cup
Coriender chpd 4sps
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying



 Method for making these Crispy Vadas

  • Soak Sabudana with enough water to dip it 
  • Soak it for 2-3hrs(Or overnite if preparing ahead of time)
  • Then drain & leave for 1/2 hr
  • Sabudana/ Sago pearls will look like this after soaking 


  • Boil Potatoes by pressure cooking 2 Visels
  • Cool down & grate it then add drained Sabudana
  • Add all the spices, redchili powder, cumin & Salt
  • Add chopped Coriender leaves, add gram flour & mix,
  • Shape to tikkis by making a ball then flattening it


  • Heat Oil in deep dish, when its hot, change flame to medium
  • Then add 4 Vadas at a time & fry both sides till crisp
Crispy Vadas are ready to Indulge

Note: You can add Green chilies instead of Chili powder
         You can even add Groundnuts for crunch
        You can also skip Besan just potato mix shd be more than sago
         Fry the Vadas 3-4 at a time dont put too many
         Fry on medium heat so that its cooked from inside
         Remove when its crisp & changes colour
