Tricolor Idli with special tri color dips



Generally, we celebrate all the festivals with some special food and Republic Day or Independence Day is our national festival therefore it should also be celebrated by preparing the tricolour food . Earlier I had posted how to make Tricolor Upma & For Republic day I had posted how to prepare Tricolor Uttapam, you can even make that.





As we all know that bright colors always attract people and preparing a colorful dish is always fun. And, this Tricolor Idli is totally inspired by the colors that are present in our national Flag, that’s why, its name is “Tricolor Idli". This time, give your kids a healthy breakfast, no added colour all Natural Ingredients 

Tricolor Idli is Carrot Idli, Plain Idli & Palak Idli a very healthy combination, Rich in vitamins & Iron, Make it this weekend or Sunday to still Remain in the mood of Independence Day




Tricolour Idli

INGREDIENTS:

Urad dal(Black lentil) 1 cup

Idli Rice/Dosa Rice: 2+1/2 cups

Carrot Puree: 1 cup

Red chili powder: 1sp

Spinach Blanched & Pureed: 1 cup




To Make these Carrot & Palak Idli follow these steps:

Soak Urad Dal & Rice seperately for  4 hrs
First Grind Urad dal to fine paste
Then Grind Idli Rice to paste dont make it too fine keep a bit coarse
Add This to Urad dal paste & mix well
Keep in warm place to Ferment Overnite (6hrs)

After Fermentation Add Salt to batter & mix


Served with Sambhar, Coconut chutney & coriender chutney

For Making 3 types of Idlis

Remove 4 scoops of batter in a bowl & mix Carrot puree to it & mix 1/2 sp Chili powder
Similarly Remove 4 scoops of batter in other bowl& mix Palak puree to it (Optional mix 1/2 sp Chili powder)
Remaining Batter make Plain White Idlis
Keep all 3 seperately dont use the same spoon, use different one for each


Grease Idli Mould with Oil & pour batter in each section
Keep the steamer Ready by adding water to the bottom & keep it on heat
Then place the Idli stand in the steamer & cook Idli on steam for 20 min  

Serve Carrot Idli, Plain Idli, Palak Idli with Sambhar, Coconut chutney & Coriender chutney
