Pathrode Colocasia leaf(patra)


Spicy Tangy Pathrode after long long time relishing hometown food😋😋

This dish is called by many names Patra or Pathrode this is made on Colocasia leaves

Spreading a spicy mix & making layers of leaves rolled up & steamed then shallow fried or just tempered its a true delicacy 

Ingredients for quick Pathrode

Chickpea flour(Besan): 1cup
Rice flour: 4sps 
Red chili powder: 1-2 sps
Jeera powder: 1sp
Garam masala: 1sp
Tamrind paste: 1/2cup
Salt to taste

For the tempering
Oil: 4sps
Sesame Seeds: 2sps
Grated coconut: 2-3sps

Procedure for Pathrode 

Wash the Colocasia leaves & pat dry it
Remove the thick stem joint & vien line 
Make a paste of all ingredients mix well add little water to make a thick homogenous mix

Keep the leaf on worktop & face shining side of leaf down
Apply the first layer of the paste on the leaf and spread the paste thoroughly check this video 

Then keep the second leaf on it and apply spice paste on second leaf
This way make 3-4 leaf stack
Then fold the side ends & roll it to form a leaf roll

Keep the steamer ready & place the prepared leaf rolls in it & steam for 20 min

Once done wait it to cool down then cut into pieces Pathrode is ready

For the tempering & frying
In a pan add oil & heat it
Then add sesame seeds fry for 2min
Then add the Pathrode & fry 2min each side
Remove & serve with grated coconut 

Spicy Pathrode or Patra is ready enjoy this vegeterian delicacy
